An extraordinary award presentation also calls for an extraordinary personality: on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the FIBO INNOVATION AWARD former world boxing champion Regina Halmich presented the industry “Oscar“ on Friday, 24 April, 2009, the second day of the Leading International Trade Show for Fitness, Wellness and Health.
Nominees and the audience were looking forward to the event excitedly. In his laudatory anniversary speech FIBO founder Volker Ebener recalled the numerous and unique award winners of the past ten years. “The FIBO INNOVATION AWARD has had a strong influence on the fitness industry,“ Ebener stated. The FIBO INNOVATION AWARD is granted each year by FIBO, TÜV and FIT FOR FUN and presents a great image and marketing asset for the winners. Stars were born here, innovations and premieres celebrated.
Design Category: Teca Srl with “Beauty by Teca”
Italian joie-de-vivre came to the fore when the prize in the Design category was awarded: with much jubilation Teca Srl received the award on the stage. The jury chose the equipment series Beauty by Teca for its perfect combination of function and design. With its organic tulip-inspired design the equipment has a particular visual lightness and takes up little space. Furthermore the colour of the series can be customized in accordance with the client’s wishes.
Health Category: Dr. Wolff Sports & Prevention GmbH Rückentherapie-Center (Back Therapy Centre)
Dr. Wolff Sports & Prevention GmbH was the happy award winner in the Health category. Here the jury’s decision was unanimous. The Dr. Wolff Back Therapy Centre is designed for use by all groups in the population and addresses a current issue: the device offers deep stabilisation through deep sensory back training providing differentiated, integrated biofeedback. Exercising in the standing, sitting or prone position, users access muscular regions that are difficult to access by exercising on conventional equipment.
Training Equipment Category: enformax Europe GmbH (gym 80) with enforbike®
In the Training Equipment category the situation was quite different – here the jury found it really hard to reach a decision. For the first time in the history of the FIBO INNOVATION AWARD, there were as many as four nominees, all of top quality. In the end enformax Europe GmbH (gym 80) was successful. The enforbike represents a decisive development in vibration training: endurance training attains new intensity. The result is a cycle ergometer system which includes a mechanical, decoupled, impulse‑loaded bottom bracket axle.

Concept Special Category: Milon Industries GmbH
More than the product as such was the object of this year’s special award which, in distinguishing the best concept, honours the positioning of the product in the fitness studio as well as in internal and external communications. In the opinion of the jury, Milon Industries GmbH was the company to deliver the best overall concept with the sale of the equipment.
