Nautilus, Inc Debuts New Schwinn Indoor Cycling Line

VANCOUVER, Wash., March XX, 2009 -- Nautilus, Inc. (NYSE:NLS) has debuted a new line of Schwinn® Fitness Indoor Cycling bikes and consoles. The new Schwinn A.C.™ Series includes three brand new bikes and two console options that will provide an indoor Authentic Cycling experience to enthusiasts around the world.
The three new bikes include several advances over previously available indoor cycling bikes. The largest breakthrough is a new braking system featuring Schwinn Virtual Contact™ Resistance Technology. The system uses magnets and an aluminum disk to generate resistance without physical contact between wheel and brake – the result is an incredibly smooth ride feel and an elimination of maintenance associated with traditional pad-based brake systems. Other advances include a simplified, easy fit system for riders, an advanced handlebar design to accommodate new rider positions, and a new dual-density saddle designed for longer-ride comfort and performance.
In addition to the three new bikes, Nautilus unveiled a revolutionary new bike computer, the Schwinn® MPower™ console. The key to the console is a software technology that allows consistent measurement of the true work a rider performs: Watts. This capability allows the Schwinn MPower console to provide riders with metrics such as Calories, Speed, Distance (and Watts) that can be used in an indoor cycling class environment for new ways to track fitness and performance over time and to stay motivated. Further, the new console provides a first in the indoor cycling space: the ability for riders to save their data and track their workouts, using either a USB memory device or ANT+ wireless technology.
“As long as there has been indoor cycling, Schwinn has been building indoor cycling bikes,” said Tim Joyce, Senior Vice President/General Manager Nautilus, Inc.. “As we developed the new line of equipment, it was not good enough to simply update our older products. Our focus from the start was to surpass anything available in the marketplace, and the initial reaction from customers tells us that we have succeeded.”
The Schwinn A.C.™ Series was recently unveiled at the IHRSA trade event March 17 in San Francisco, CA and will make its European debut at the FIBO trade event in Essen, Germany April 23. Products will begin shipping in June.
