They allow new forms of exercising, help to increase fitness and health of the users and bring high-tech into the fitness studio: The eleven products and projects nominated for the FIBO INNOVATION AWARD demonstrate the innovative potential of the fitness industry in the three categories of Training Equipment, Health Promotion and Design in many different ways. For the twelfth time already, the Award will be granted at this year's FIBO. Ever since the competition was first held, companies from the segments of fitness, wellness and health have looked to Essen once a year with great interest, because the winners and the nominees have again and again been had a pioneering role for the further development of the industry.
For the entire duration of the trade show, from 14 to 17 April, the nominated products are on display at the INNOVATION FORUM in Hall 7. This is where the award ceremony will be held on the second day of the trade show, 15 April at 3 p.m. The prizes will be awarded by an independent jury of experts presided over by the TÜV Rheinland Group, and in cooperation with the FIT FOR FUN magazine. The jury will consist of journalists, sports scientists and sports physicians.
1. Nominees in the "training equipment" category
intelligent motion gmbH: IM-lifter (Hall 7/ E26)
IM-lifter (Hall 7/ E26)
Multifunctional, safe, efficient: The patented virtual load simulation permits a training procedure with simulated loads of up to 250 kg. Loads can be simulated in a lifting and lowering direction, which permits a wide range of exercises, e.g. knee bend, bench press or rowing forward. The combination of the virtually freely adjustable barbell weight bar with our perfected virtual force simulation provides the possibility of a highly safe training procedure without the need to do without the functional advantages of a "free barbell". In addition, movement spaces and forces are infinitely adjusted, thus preventing injuries. The IM-lifter has a large graphic display. This permits a direct feedback for the athlete and the trainer as well as displaying the training data, break times and other important information.
Nessfit World: Fitwalker Advanced (Hall 3/ B25)
Fitwalker Advanced (Hall 3/ B25)
Walking is a natural process which is especially beneficial for the musculoskeletal system, the cardio-vascular system and the respiratory system. The Fitwalker is the appropriate training device to support this process. The Fitwalker allows simple and effective exercises and offers user the possibility to exercise both individually and in a group, to reduce weight or improve their level of cardio-vascular fitness. This type of exercise improves body posture, coordination and motor skills and increases strength, resilience and flexibility.
Paddlelite®: Paddlelite (Hall 7/ C10)
Paddlelite (Hall 7/ C10)
In its concept, this is a new type of training device that is suitable both for group training (indoor paddling), circuit training and also home training. The resistance regulation can be carried out during training, without having to leave the paddle seat, since the training resistance is located under the seat. With its space-saving size of just 190 cm in length and 55 cm in width, as well as a weight of just 30 kg, it is a true lightweight. In the vertical "Paddlelite Park Position", it requires minimal space for storage. Thanks to the fitted castors at the rear end of the "Paddlelite Dragon", it can be easily transported.
cube sports: Adventure playgound (Hall 6/ E41)
Adventure playgound (Hall 6/ E41)
Replacing horizontal or parallel bars and balance beams: the adventure playgrounds by cube sports are designed to bring back the fun into gymnastics for all age groups. The modular plug system overcomes the weakness of many sports centres and replaces not only a large proportion of the existing (gymnastic) equipment of a school, but through its highly attractive nature creates totally new possibilities for student motivation and fundamentally innovative suggestions for promoting activities for children.
2. Nominees in the "Health" category
Technogym SPA: my wellness key (Hall 3/ B14)
my wellness key (Hall 3/ B14)
"mywellness key" is a small portable device measuring daily physical activity, thus encouraging the user to exercise more on a daily basis. With this device, fitness clubs can monitor and support their members during their physical activity both in the studio and outside. "mywellness key" measures both exercise quantity and intensity. Users are given a personal exercise or Move target, and every physical activity during the day is converted into Move points. Progress is recorded in the form of white bars that gradually fill up until the + mark is reached which signals that the target has been achieved.
Clubs using this system are in a better position to assess their customers' needs and help them to increase their level of physical activity - in the studio and beyond.
Ergo-FIT GmbH & Co. KG: Fraunhofer ISST (Hall 3/ B12)
Fraunhofer ISST (Hall 3/ B12)
By cooperating with the Fraunhofer ISST during development of this interface, it is possible to establish a network between the national and the privately financed healthcare sectors, so that secure transmission of training related data from the training system to the software of hospitals and doctors surgeries becomes a reality. Currently there is no such possibility.
A major criterion here is the secure transmission and use of the data, since patient data especially consists of sensitive personal data. This problem has been taken into account and a system has been developed in which the trainee himself decides on the onward transmission of his data.
WTEK snc: HS-1C (Hall 7/ A13)
HS-1C (Hall 7/ A13)
With a heart rate monitor Polar Electro is nominated for the FIBO INNOVATION AWARD. Our sensors, FS-1 and HS-1C, replace the chest strap transmitter. With our sensors you can monitor your heart rate without chest strap transmitter. With FS-1 you can monitor your heart rate at the finger, with HS-1C you can monitor your heart rate at the head wearing it with a common head bend for sport activity.
TwistFit - siebeneicher sport products: TwistFit (Hall 7/ B34)
TwistFit (Hall 7/ B34)
A patented pocket-size fitness studio: two straps, a special rope and a purpose-designed rotating disc - that is TwistFit. Weighing only 190 grams, the device can create tensile forces of up to 20 kilograms per side. Users can set the disc to rotate at their own individual level of training performance. Accordingly the device can be used by everyone. The purpose-designed special disc allows exercising even if the device is held vertically. The disc always remains in a central position and will not slip down. As a result, hundreds of different exercises can be performed with TwistFit. Simultaneous coordination and muscular training ensures considerable training safety.
3. Nominees in the "design" category
Kernpower Company - Ernst Kern: ironpower dynamax (Hall 6/ D24)
ironpower dynamax (Hall 6/ D24)
The Ironpower Dynamax is the very first gyroscopic whole body trainer. The gyroscope in the training sphere, e.g. known as a Powerball for the past 50 years in the USA and since 1999 in Germany, trains the hand and arm muscles especially. The Ironpower Dynamax, based on the same principle, trains the whole body. Virtually all muscle sectors can be energized, depending on whether the Dynamax is held in front or behind the body, to the side or over the head. By means of the ergonomically shaped handles and isometric exercises, the Dynamax has a gentle effect on the muscles and acts with minimum impact on the bones and joints. The faster the rotor turns, the greater the required force will be. Light force during a workout implies that the device will also "provide" less force. Consequently, an overload is impossible, e.g. due to heavy weights.
Lamiflex SPA: Ciclotte (Hall 7/ D15)
Ciclotte (Hall 7/ D15)Ciclotte is decidedly different from any other exercise bike or home fitness equipment, because it breaks with the design of gym equipment that have always emphasized the functional aspects, to find a place with inimitable style within most varied living contexts: home, office, gym and the outdoors.
Under a technical point of view it is important to say that its unique shape replicates the position of riding and spinning bikes. The most interesting part relays in the cycling resistance system, which is obtained by creating a magnetic field. The field is created by 5 magnets which are moved back and forward by using a touch screen display inspired by home automation system technology. The magnets are placed in front of a copper ring moved by pedals and rotating at high-speed while cycling, thanks to an epicycloids system.
Technogym SPA: Kinesis Stations (Hall 3/ B14)
Kinesis Stations (Hall 3/ B14)
The Kinesis Stations Line is the answer to the need expressed by a growing number of people for simple, intuitive exercises accessible to all. The devices are easy to use and combine the benefits of functional strength with the simplicity of more conventional equipment. The Kinesis Stations Line offers the pleasure of training in a new and motivating way in a stylish, new-concept environment that is different from traditional clubs. The upholstery design, for instance, was adopted from the automobile sector to provide increased comfort, ergonomics and elegance. The innovative surface texture of the ergonomic handle ensures maximum grip and comfort for the user. The patented handles for each station are in a preset position, making the movements that users can perform completely safe, more intuitive and natural. The closed loops cable system with 360° rotation patented under the name Full Gravity Technology System allows users to move freely.
